PCVPC Academic Partners

Forming a multi-institutional interdisciplinary center requires an inclusive environment that exceeds the traditional boundaries of institutions or areas of specialization. The resources and facilities incorporated into PCVPC create such an environment.

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia has a long and distinguished tradition of research that has spanned more than 80 years and positioned the Hospital as a world-renowned pediatric research center. The Principal Investigator, Center Coordinator, and support staff for the A&I Core of the PCVPC are located within the offices of the Center for Injury Research and Prevention (CIRP) at CHOP. CIRP includes researchers from epidemiology, engineering, nursing, public health, business, and adolescent and pediatric emergency medicine. CIRP is located within the Joseph Stokes Jr. Research Institute, the research arm for CHOP.  

The University of Pennsylvania (U of P) takes advantage of its compact academic and hospital campus to promote interdisciplinary collaboration. The Graduate School of Education (GSE) at U of P is known for its commitment to improving urban education, with investment in Philadelphia and regional communities. The School of Medicine houses the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (CCEB), including the Cartographic Modeling Laboratory and the Firearm & Injury Center at Penn (FICAP), part of the Division of Traumatology and Surgical Critical Care. The Cartographic Modeling Laboratory is a unique collaboration of healthcare professionals, researchers and communities who perform and share injury research and translate research findings into practice. The School of Nursing is known for its contributions to nursing science, research and evidence-based practice.

Temple University, Department of Public Health is part of Temple's College of Health Professions. The Department collaborates with educators, researchers, clinicians, and community practitioners to increase the quality and length of healthful life of all people, to eliminate racial, ethnic and social disparities in health status, and to promote public health locally, regionally, nationally and globally.

Drexel University, School of Public Health enhances the health of communities by creating partnerships based on community values, strengths, and assets. The School's interdisciplinary program is based on a model that teaches students to work effectively with and within: diverse communities and neighborhoods; healthcare financing and delivery systems; research institutions; and governmental and community-based health and human service organizations.
